A 5.4-magnitude earthquake rocked Ciamis regency, West Java at 7.25 a.m. on Sunday, causing panicked resident to flee their homes.

“We are worried that there will be a big quake like the one in September last year,” Ating, a resident of Ciparigi, Ciamis, told Antara.

The tremor was felt in Ciamis for around three to four seconds. Many residents remained outside of their homes for 15 minutes to anticipate any aftershocks.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said the epicenter of the earthquake was located 84 kilometers south west of Tasikmalaya at a depth of 14 kilometers.
