Several days before testifying before the House of Representatives, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrwati met several prominent figures at a hotel in South Jakarta on Sunday night.

Among those present at the meeting were the former deputy chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Erry Riyana, the head of the presidential judicial corruption squad, Kuntoro Mangusubroto, and author Goenawan Mohammad, tempointeraktif.com reports.

During the discussion, the minister discussed her problems in connection with the Rp 6.76 trillion (US$ 730.3 million) Bank Century bailout case.

“I do not feel alone,” she said during her opening speech at the meeting.

Mulyani admitted she was under a lot of pressures while holding the post as finance minister, particularly in resolving the Bank Century case.

“I have been trying to keep up with all of the procedures. I have warned my employees to be careful so as not to cause any loopholes for violations,” she said.

Sri Mulyani is scheduled to testify before the House on Wednesday. (ewd)
