House to question Kalla, Mulyani over Century on Wednesday

The House of Representatives’ inquiry committee into the Bank Century bailout will question former vice president Jusuf Kalla and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on Wednesday in connection with the Rp 6.76 trillion (US$ 716 million) bailout.

Committee member Hendrawan Supratikna said Monday that legislators would ask the minister to clarify her decision to side with the central bank’s analysis of the potential systemic threat posed by Century’s collapse.

“We will question the former vice president on his conclusion that the case was in effect a robbery,” Hendrawan said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.

Kalla confirmed he would attend the hearing.

“I’ll tell them everything I know,” he said in Pasuruan.

He added he expected the committee to unravel the truth in the case. (ewd)
