PADANG: The city of Bukittinggi in West Sumatra is exploring the possibility of developing a sister city program with Perth, Australia.
John Hyde, a legislator from Perth overseeing Indonesia-Australia ties, will arrive in Bukittinggi on Thursday for a three-day visit to discuss the issue.
A Bukittinggi municipality foreign affairs official, Gusrizal, said Hyde is scheduled to meet Bukittinggi mayor Ismet Amziz and local councilors as well as visit the SMA 5 public senior high school.
Last August, the mayor, councilors and two school principals visited Perth following April's visit by Australian teachers to Bukittinggi. - JP
