A special team from the West Jakarta Police has arrested a 25-year-old part-time nurse as the main suspect in last week’s kidnapping of a newborn from a community health center in Kembangan.
West Jakarta Police chief Sr. Comr. A Kamil Razak said in a report to the National Police chief detective that Suryani Indah Sari had been arrested in the early hours of Thursday.
“The suspect had been working at the health center for two years. She took the baby on the pretext that he had to be immunized,” Razak reported as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Police have questioned three witnesses in the case, two of whom are the nurse’s colleagues.
The baby boy, who was kidnapped just 12 hours after his birth last Friday, has been reunited with his parents by police.
“Last night at around 10:30, the police came to the health center with my baby,” Edi Sugianto, the baby's father, told kompas.com on Thursday.
“He’s now with his mother at the health center.”
