Bribery convict Artalyta “Ayin” Suryani began on Thursday a new life as an ordinary inmate after being transferred to the Mawar pavilion at the Tangerang Women's Penitentiary, where she has to share the room with two other inmates.
Artalyta and her cell mates each have one bed, a pair of sandals and locker.
The Mawar pavilion is divided into 13 cells and is equipped with a small TV set. Each inmate is allowed to watch TV twice a week, including Artalyta, who has her turn every Wednesday and Saturday from 8 a.m. until midnight.
“So far, Ayin has been able to accept the modest conditions at the penitentiary and other inmates have also accepted her presence here,” prison warden Arti Wirastuti said.
As of Thursday Artalyta has continued to refuse to eat the prison meals and ate food delivered by two of her children in the morning.
Artalyta, graft convict Darmawati Dareho and drug abuse convict Liem "Aling" Marita were transferred to the Tangerang jail last week after a presidential task force found they enjoyed exclusive facilities at Pondok Bambu prison.
