EDAN: The Association of Indonesian Businesspeople' (Apindo) North Sumatra chapter has reported that dozens of its members are facing collapse due to financial loss following the frequent blackouts in the province.

Chairman of the association, Parlindungan Purba, said the recurring electricity blackouts have badly affected the region's economy.

"Many of us have no choice but to close our businesses due to the continued loss caused by the frequent blackouts," Purba told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.
