The House of Representatives special committee for the Bank Century bailout investigations plans to cross-examine testimonies of former vice president Jusuf Kalla, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and former Bank Indonesia (BI) governor Boediono.
The committee plans to hold an internal meeting on Monday to schedule a date for a meeting that the three witnesses could attend at the same time, tempointeraktif.com reported.
“The cross-examination is important because their accounts of the case differ,” said a committee member Maruarar Sirait said Sunday.
All three of the key witnesses have already testified before the committee.
Maruarar said that one of the differences was apparent in the testimonies of Kalla and Sri Mulyani. Kalla had said he had received a report from the minister on Nov. 25, 2008.
However, Sri Mulyani said she had informed Kalla about the bailout on Nov. 22 via short text message, Maruarar said.
He added that the committee would also ask for the minister’s clarification regarding her statement to Kalla that she had been fooled by the central bank authorities on the Century data. (ewd)
