The country's second-largest Muslim organization, Muhammadiyah, says President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono must be held accountable for the Rp 6.76 trillion (US$716 million) Bank Century bailout. "There is no need for the House of Representatives inquiry committee to avoid summoning *Yudhoyono* because it has enough reasons to do so," Muhammadiyah chairman Din Syamsudin said in Jakarta on Sunday.
Your comments:
The President should not be informed via a text message of a decision to spend even US$10 of the state money. It should be through a phone call or an official letter, unless the procedure protocol does not require the acknowledgement of the President or Vice President. If it is the case, President SBY and former vice president JK are not to blame for this fiasco.
If the procedure requires notification to be sent to them, sending it through an SMS is the most unprofessional way to do it. Therefore, Sri Mulyani and Boediono should be blamed for this situation, along with other people.

I agree, Pak Din, if it is possible the House of Representatives inquiry committee should summon Pak SBY.

It's not easy being green -- Jan. 17, p. 6
Kermit the Frog once sang that "It's not easy being green", lamenting his skin color and wishing he was of a different hue. Kermit was just ahead of his time: There are many shades of green now, and they all come with a certain level of prestige; being green is about identity, determined by your level of socio-environmental consciousness and lifestyle. I applaud the efforts of anyone who is able to incorporate "being green" into all aspects of their life. The more consumers that demand products and packaging that are environmentally friendly, the more manufacturers will listen.
Things aren't going to change overnight but they will change. I believe we can have many of our modern conveniences and a healthy environment. We should educate ourselves and when choosing products we should make choices that will benefit ourselves and future generations.
