Some 450 supporters of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) will stage a counter-rally in Surabaya on Thursday to mark his first 100 days in office and oppose the planned mass protest against the president.
The supporters, who called themselves SBY Love Warriors (LCS), will march from the East Java Legislative Council building on Jl. Indrapura to the Gubernatorial Office on Jl. Pahlawan.
LCS said the first 100 days of SBY's presidency could not be used to predict his performance over the next five years.
Various controversies have rocked the SBY government, including the framing of two Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputies and the Rp 6.7 trillion (US$716 million) bailout of Bank Century.
“We want to show moral support to SBY and [Vice President] Boediono as many parties are against them in the Bank Century (bailout) case,” said LCS chief Elisabeth Santi said on Wednesday.
Members of Democratic Party faction of the East Java Legislative Council would also join the LCS protest, she added.
