Appraising the government’s performance on the economy after just 100 days will only lead to an unfair assessment, a lawmaker says.
Achsanul Qosasi, a Democratic Party member of the House of Representatives’ Commission XI on Finance and Banking, said Thursday that 100 days was not long enough to be able to evaluate the government’s achievements.
"The government serves for five years. Judging its performance based on just 100 days is simply unfair. We have to admit that there is a bit of political turmoil in the legislative body, but overall, the economy, such as the banking sector, is relatively stable," Achsanul said.
House Deputy Speaker Anis Matta from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) had previously lauded the government for maintaining domestic security in its first 100 days, but criticized its economic and welfare policies.
The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), the largest opposition party, plans to announce its official assessment of the government's first 100 days later today.
