JAKARTA: National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Edward Aritonang said Saturday that police were still receiving many reports related to the recent wave of ATM fraud.
"As of Friday, we have received 100 reports from those claiming to be victims," Aritonang was quoted as saying by news portal kompas.com.
He said 45 of the reports came from Bali while the remaining 55 from outside Bali, including Jakarta.
He said the reports greatly assisted police in mapping the locations where the crimes took place.
"This may ultimately help us find out who the masterminds behind the crimes are," he said.
So far, he added, police have arrested dozens of people allegedly involved in the scam. The suspects range from as far afield as Jakarta, Pontianak and Bali. -JP
