Fire razes five houses in West Jakarta

JAKARTA: A fire from an exploding gas stove razed five semi-permanent houses on Gang Kubur in Joglo, West Jakarta, on Monday morning.

West Jakarta Fire Agency chief Sudjadi told The Jakarta Post that the fire broke out in the densely populated area just after 5 a.m.

No one was hurt in the fire, and losses were estimated to have been around Rp 300 million (US$30,000).

According to data from the agency, this was the first fire in West Jakarta in February, while last month saw 10 fires, nine caused by electrical faults. - JP
