State power firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) may once again issue bonds this year to fund its electricity transmission and distribution, a director said.
PLN's finance director Setio Anggoro Dewo said Tuesday PLN still needed about Rp 20 trillion (US$ 2.14 billion) for the transmission and distribution network and part of this might be financed through issuing bonds.
"There is a need for more funding. We will evaluate the market both the bank [loans] and the stock exchange [bonds] to find which one is most profitable for us," Dewo said.
He did not give details on when the company would make a firm decision on the matter.
PLN this year expects to book revenues as much as Rp 103 trillion and receive Rp 37.8 trillion in subsidies from the government. The funding generated from the planned bonds and loans will be used to cover spending that cannot be covered from the revenue and the subsidies.
