Police arrest gold thief suspects

BEKASI: Bekasi Regency Police announced Monday it had arrested three suspects who had allegedly looted 7 kilograms of gold and Rp 20 million (US$2,140) in cash from a jewelry store in Cibitung, Bekasi, last week.

"We arrested the three suspects, AT, TL and MS, outside Java Island," Bekasi Regency Police chief Sr. Comr. Harry Wibowo said on Monday as quoted by the official Jakarta Police website.

From the three suspects, police had discovered there were another seven gang members involved in the robbery.

The thieves had used motorcycles and fired guns on Monday during robbery of the King jewelry store in Bekasi, before taking off with the gold and money. - JP
