JAKARTA: West Nusa Tenggara Police Chief Brig. Gen. Arif Wahyunadi said here Tuesday police in the province had named 14 people from Kedoro Village as suspects in a recent attack that left two people dead and one seriously injured.

He said the 14 people had provoked others to do the attack. "We are going to summon all of the witnesses to find out the role of these people," he added.

The incident happened when about 50 Kedoro Village residents pursued four robbers, who had broken into one of the residents' houses on Jan. 28. They found three of the robbers in the forest, while one managed to escape.

One was beaten to death while two were brought to the police station claiming they were not robbers. The situation turned ugly when people found out that these two were allegedly part of the group.

The angry mob then lynched the two suspects in police custody. - JP
