Agency to monitor overpriced parking lots

JAKARTA: The transportation agency has called on residents to report buildings that charge overpriced parking tariffs.

"We have regulated tariffs so *operators* have no basis to charge high fares," agency deputy head Riza Hasyim was quoted as saying by news portal detik.com.

"We can close the parking lots if they breach regulations," he said.

The parking tariffs bylaw states that four-wheeled vehicles are charged Rp 2,000 for the first hour and Rp 1,000 for each additional hour. The parking rate for motorcycles is Rp 750 per hour.
