AGO asks Singapore to bring fugitive to RI

The Attorney General's Office has requested Singaporean authorities to bring fugitive graft suspect Joko S. Tjandra back to Indonesia.

Attorney General Hendarman Supandji said Friday he had talked with his Singaporean counterpart during an international anti-corruption authorities meeting recently.

“We were asked to fill a request form, and we did. Now we are waiting for (the Singaporean Attorney General) to invite us to discuss our request,” Hendarman said.

He confirmed that Joko had had his passport retracted.

Joko is a fugitive in the Banking Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) scandal. The Supreme Court sentenced Joko in June last year to two years of imprisonment and ordered him to pay Rp 546 billion in restitution to the state. But he fled the country just a few days before the state prosecutors executed the verdict.
