A table for two, or more, this Valentine's Day

A- A A+

Forget Paris - there are plenty of romantic places in Jakarta to have dinner for two this Valentine's Day.

There will be hundreds of candles and rose petals at Hotel Shangri-La's northern Italian restaurant Rosso, which will ignite feelings of adoration among couples who love authentic Italian cuisine. But for chef Alessandro Santi of Rosso, Valentine's Day is about more than candlelit dinners, roses and chocolate, it is about sharing love and food.

In fact, the chef has designed a "Share the Love and Food" menu, which allows couples to have a romantic dinner and share the same dishes as a symbol of sharing love and life.

The menu is a list of delectable treats. It begins with the appetizer consisting of Marinated Turbot with Pomelo, Coriander and Caviar, Seared Wagyu Beef Tenderloin Tartare, Fried Capers and Quail Egg, Buffalo Mozzarella in Carrozza with Roasted Capsicum and Tomato Jelly, Foie Gras Terrine with Apple Renetta Compote, Confit Artichoke and Candy Lemon. The soup is White Asparagus Soup with Crispy Parmigiana and Black Truffle.

More tempting dishes come out for the next course, among them Lobster and Basil Ravioli with Saffron Foam, Basil Infusion, Dried Roma Tomato, Passion Fruit and Lime Sherbet. For the main course, Chef Santi will present The Lamb in Love with Wild Sea Bass. Rosso Sweet Passion and Sharing Dessert complete the dinner.

Another Italian romantic dinner is available at Hotel Mulia's Il Mare. Guests can have set menus for the Valentine's dinner, with one dish being Angel Hair with Broccolini and King Crab in Spicy Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

Want to have a non-Italian Valentine's dinner? There is an array of menus at Hotel Ritz-Carlton Pacific Place's Pacific Restaurant and Lounge. Guests will be entertained with live music, a photo station and a surprise lucky draw.

The dinner's main course selections include Half Lobster in Thermidor Butter and Chevre Cheese Risotto, Baked Chilean Seabass and Caramelized Olive Jus, Tandoor Roasted King Prawns and Mustard Asparagus Dressed Potato-filled Agnolotti Pasta, Grilled Australian Beef Tenderloin with Truffled Mashed Potato and Sticky Shallot Jus and Liquorice Flavored Beef Tenderloin with Chestnuts and Parsnip R*sti.

To celebrate your Valentine's Day al fresco, there is a romantic dinner at Cabana Restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel's poolside. Guests can book one of four cabanas, decorated with scented candles and flowers to create a more romantic atmosphere.

Guests can sit back and relax to the sounds of live guitar music while enjoying the four-course set dinner complemented with a bottle of wine served by a private butler.

After some amuse bouches to start with, the dinner's first course is Salmon Terrine with Keta Caviar, Artichoke and Baby Potato Salad, followed with Warm Tomato Consomm*, Lobster and Tarragon.

The main course is Pink Peppercorn Crusted Angus Beef Medallion with Prune Studded Potato Gallette and Porcini Foam, while dessert is Gianduja Chocolate Cake and Raspberry Macaroon.

Celebrating love is not only about couples. If you celebrate Valentine's Day with families and friends, there is a special buffet at JW Marriott Hotel's Sailendra Restaurant to delight everyone.

The buffet will offer a delectable selection of seafood, such as sushi and sashimi, marinated Norwegian Salmon in casserole, as well as Sailendra's grill station, which offers baby lobster, mussels, crabs, red and white whole snapper.

On the meat section, there is slow roast prime Angus beef, lamb kebabs, beef kebabs, Australian beef rib eye medallions with morel cream sauce. There is also Valentine's homemade wood-fired pizza. To close the meal, there is the dessert buffet, which offers, among others, a pink chocolate fountain, premium ice cream and its signature chocolate fudge.

From sweet to savory, there is plenty for everyone to love and share.
