Author Demien Dematra has launched a book about pluralism icon former President KH Abdurrahman Wahid, known as Gus Dur, in Jakarta, on Monday.
Entitled Sejuta Doa untuk Gus Dur (A Million of Prayers for Gus Dur), the book perpetuates Gus Dur’s thoughts on pluralism.
“[Gus Dur] was certainly not a pluralist since from birth. However, he had key factors that made him into one,” said Demien during the book launching ceremony as quoted by kompas.com.
Gus Dur’s sister, Asiyah Badlowi -- who is also an interfaith activist -- artist Remy Sylado, Catholic priest Ismartono and a representative of Parisada Hindu Dharma religious council Ketut Bantas attended the event.
