Bogor regency administration plans to allocate Rp 24 billion (US$2.5 million) to finance a public health insurance scheme it calls Jamkesda, aimed at providing assistance to low-income earners in the region.
The scheme is expected to cover healthcare expense for those who are not registered under the Jamkesmas government-sponsored health insurance scheme.
The administration was committed to making similar allocations in coming years, Bogor regent Rachmat Yasin said.
Insurance would also be available for low-ranking civil servants, including teachers and non-permanent officials, but they would be given slightly better care than the program for the public, he said.
“We will provide typical second-class services at hospitals for officials,” Rachmat said.
The officers were underpaid and the scheme would help them, he said.
If hospitalized, members of the Jamkesmas and Jamkesda insurance programs are eligible to stay in third-class rooms.
