Comments: SBY and Bank Century

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono marked the first 100 days of his second term on Thursday. The Bank Century bailout scandal is still haunting his government and the exhausted inquiry process at the House of Representatives now seems to be going nowhere.

While Indonesia is facing the critical issue of implementing the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), which started this month, the political arena has been crowded by the bailout issue.

Your comments:
Those politicians need to draw a hard and good lesson from this Bank Century headache. Instead using every "non-excellent" policy as a "political" reason to discredit the administration, or any administration, they should start thinking and planning to build a mechanical system which would guarantee that one policy would not be held hostage as a "political" weapon to damage the legitimacy of the administration.

We, the people, should understand that this "political" game will not bring any positive result to Indonesian progress. Instead, they put us in misery to follow their political drama.

I really hope the opposition, such as the PDI-P, understand that once they use "impeachment" as their political strategy, then they will be liable and vulnerable to such strategy in the future.

US-China tension -- Feb. 2, p. 6

With its gigantic economy, China now is much more confident in facing the West, including the US, which is on the brink of economic collapse.

There is growing frustration in America where millions have lost their jobs in the last two years and massive layoffs continue.

While there is little possibility that these two extreme contrasts can bring the two nations into fatal confrontation, the world can face unexpected risks if leaders of the US and China irresponsibly play their cards to satisfy domestic demands.

Your comments:
China is a superpower, or is it? One democracy activist is a bigger threat to China than the United States.

One human rights activist is a bigger threat to China than all the military hardware being sold to Taiwan.

One critical journalist is a bigger threat to China than all the global terrorists put together.

One spiritual leader is a larger threat to China than all the pornography on the Internet. Long live, China the superpower.
