To celebrate the Year of the Tiger, which starts on Feb. 14, the state postal company PT Pos Indonesia has released a special edition tiger stamp.

“The tiger series stamp has been on sale since Feb. 6,” I Ketut Mardjana, general affairs director of PT Pos Indonesia, told Antara state news agency on Tuesday.

He said the new stamps would mark the start of the new Chinese lunar year and help promote the diversity of Indonesian culture.

“This is an expression of our respect for Chinese ethnicity and universal friendship,” Mardiana said.

Since 2007, the company has issued special editions of stamps to commemorate Chinese New Year.

Unlike the previous stamp, the new stamp bears the Year of the Tiger in Chinese characters and the company logo, which can be only be seen using an ultraviolet lamp as a means of protection from forgery.
