Your comments on the plan of US President Barack Obama, who spent four years of his childhood in Jakarta, to visit Indonesia in March.
I think it is great that Obama is visiting. While one should not read too much into it, the fact that he will spend time here and understands a little of the culture can only benefit Indonesia.
Before I came to Indonesia, I knew nothing about it and, of course, due to the media thought it was just a place full of terrorists.
You have to see the country and meet the people to know what a wonderful place it really is. Now, all my friends who visit here don’t want to leave. If and when any of the president’s advisers speak against Indonesia, he will not be influenced by them as someone without personal experience would be.

I heard that Obama would only be visiting his elementary school for 10 minutes.
So I think the visit will be more concerned with diplomatic relations rather than reviving his childhood memories.

It will mean more traffic jams. It would be best if we all stayed home and ignored him.

Obama’s visit to his elementary school in Jakarta means nothing for Indonesia. He just wants to revisit his childhood memories here.

Indonesia has the largest Muslim community in the world yet they do respect followers of other religions. So, Obama’s visit to Indonesia will give the world a clearer picture of Indonesia. Obama will have the chance to meet his friends from when he was in Jakarta as a child.

US President Barack Obama’s visit to Indonesia is based on nostalgic feelings and real goodwill to our country.
As a civilized country, we should offer the Obama family our earnest hospitality.
We should take full advantage of the visit of the president of such an influential state.
However, I am sure that a very small fundamental militant group, for whatever reason, would like to disrupt his visit. Therefore our security forces should be on full alert to guarantee it is a fruitful, safe and pleasant occasion.

Barack Obama’s visit means nothing to Indonesia. He is the president of a country that attacks Muslim countries like Afghanistan and Palestine.
Indonesia, as the largest Muslim-majority country in the world, should reject his visit.
