Building violations in Buleleng

A- A A+

BULELENG: Around 60 percent of buildings constructed along the river bed areas in Buleleng regency in North Bali have violated building permits.

Putu Mangku Budiasa, from the Buleleng Legislative Council, has found that the majority of buildings along the rivers were constructed only one to 2.5 meters from the river dams.

According to the regulation, any building constructed along the river must be located at least 3.5 meters from the river's retaining walls.

"Lack of law enforcement and monitoring policy has led to many violations," the legislator said. Some of the buildings belonged to high-ranking officials in the regency. - JP
