Ciliwung River burst its banks on Wednesday afternoon and inundated houses in the Arus alley near Jl. Dewi Sartika, just at the rear of the Suara Pembaruan building, East Jakarta.
A resident said the flood had been triggered by heavy rains in the river’s upstream areas, in Bogor, West Java, Kompas.com reported.
An East Jakarta Police officer said the flood has yet to interrupt traffic flow on the main thoroughfares. (nkn)
