Presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha said Wednesday the Palace would decide on names of candidates for the post of central bank governor soon, the position having been left vacant for about 10 months.

Then Bank Indonesia governor Boediono, now Indonesia's Vice President, left the post in May last year when he received President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's offer to run as his running mate in the July 8, 2009 presidential election.

Then senior deputy governor of the bank, Miranda Goeltom, acted as the governor for some two months before entering retirement, and the position was assumed by the new senior deputy governor, Darmin Nasution, who is a former director general for taxation at the Finance Ministry.

Darmin has been acting as the central bank's governor since then. Julian declined to comment on whether the Palace wanted to retain Darmin as a candidate for the central bank governor position.

"I can only say that this matter is being discussed, being finalized. We will finalize it soon and send a letter to the House of Representatives afterward," he told journalists at the Presidential Office.

The House has reportedly sent two letters to the Palace, urging it to name candidates for the central bank governor position. The second letter was submitted earlier this month.
