SBY donor disbursed cash from Bank Century: Golkar

The Golkar Party team at the House of Representatives inquiry committee on the Bank Century case began Wednesday to look for a connection between President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the bailout of the bank.

Quoting the Financial Reports and Transaction Analysis (PPATK) report, Golkar lawmaker Bambang Soesatyo said PT AJP, one of the companies donating money to Yudhoyono’s election campaign, disbursed the cash from Bank Century.

"PT AJP disbursed Rp 4 billion [US$428,000] and Rp 6 billion in cash in June 2009," Bambang told reporters. "In that same month, the company donated to the President's campaign team, based on the data from the General Elections Commission."

Bambang, however, underlined there had been no indication as yet that the disbursement had anything to do with the bailout.

The Bank Century bailout increased tenfold from its original estimate to Rp 6.76 trillion (US$716 million).
