A book on the history of South Tangerang municipality was launched at the Serpong Science and Technology Development and Research Center (Puspitek) in South Tangerang on Thursday.
Written by Ahmad Sirojudin, who formerly worked for the now-defunct Tangerang Tribun daily, the book describes the ups and downs of the process to form the new administrative region, which used to be part of Tangerang regency.
“We hope this book can explain to curious readers about the importance of South Tangerang municipality and serve as a reference for those interested in studying South Tangerang,” said Sirojudin, who now works for an online media company.
A discussion marked the book launch, featuring former Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University rector Azyumardi Azra; Ray Rangkuti, the director of Lingkar Madani election watchdog; and Margiono, who is a member of the South Tangerang Presidium.
