A shortage in personnel has prevented the Lumajang Prosecutors’ Office in East Java from completing investigations into 12 graft cases and submitting the case files to the district court on time, an official says.

Assistant to the office for special crimes Darman Rumahombar told tempointeraktif.com Thursday he had nobody to assist him investigate the graft cases due to limited manpower. The corruption cases caused a total of Rp 4 billion (US$427,190) in state losses, he added.

There are a total of seven prosecutors under his auspices, but they also have to investigate general crimes.

Despite being overwhelmed, Darman promised to complete the cases as soon as possible. (nkn)
