Upstream water level lowers, Jakarta flood warning decreased

The level of water in Katulampa water gate in Bogor, West Java, has lowered down to around 60 centimeters on Saturday, decreasing flood alert level in Jakarta.
“The water started to recede around 11 p.m. Friday and on early Saturday morning it was at around 60 centimeters. The level of alert is now at fourth level (the lowest level),” Andi Sudirman, top offficial at the water gate, told Antara news agency.
The level of water reached 250 centimeters at afternoon Friday, on Saturday morning water from the overflowing Ciliwung River has inundated a number of residential areas in South and East Jakarta.
News portal kompas.com has reported that residential areas in Bidaracina, South Jakarta and Kampung Pulo in East Jakarta have been flooded.
Andi said that although water level has reached normal level, the city residents living near the river banks should remain cautious.
