The Trade Ministry is recalling three brands of Chinese-made energy-saving lamps that were distributed without legal authorization.
Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said Tuesday that the illegal lamps were found during an impromptu inspection at a warehouse in North Jakarta earlier in the day.
“The illegal products were [branded] Pancaran, Cahaya and SZMR. These products will be pulled from distribution,” she told journalists as quoted by kompas.com.
The total number of lamps recalled was 795,200 and worth around Rp 4 billion (US$428,000).
Mari said the importer had been given two months to complete the recall all of the products and to fulfill all necessary administrative procedures.
