Two of the biggest parties in the government coalition have recently closed ranks in a bid to put pressure on Vice President Boediono and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

The Islamic-based Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) and nationalist Golkar Party have been in a spat with the ruling Democratic Party over measures on the Bank Century bailout case.

On Friday, PKS and Golkar legislators reiterated their belief that then Bank Indonesia governor (now Vice President) Boediono and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani were responsible for the bailout, which cost the government Rp 6.76 trillion (US$723 million).

PKS legislator Andi Rachmat said his party would mention the two in his party’s conclusion on the case.

“Yes, of course [we will mention Mulyani and Boediono], otherwise this inquiry will end in a biased conclusion,” he told a discussion.

Andi’s inquiry team counterpart from Golkar, Bambang Soesatyo, echoed similar sentiments. He nodded when asked if his party would also mention Boediono and Mulyani.

However, when asked if Yudhoyono would be named, Bambang shook his head.
