JAKARTA: A baby suffering from hydrocephalus, or excess liquid buildup in the cranium, underwent surgery at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital on Friday.
The case of two-month-old Muhammad Toriq made headlines recently after it was reported he and his family stayed several night at a mosque near the hospital while waiting to get treatment.
The hospital denied it had neglected the baby, saying it lacked a proper ward to take care of him.
Former vice president Jusuf Kalla is scheduled to see the baby Sunday, according to Toriq's father Romi Dona.
Hospital spokesperson A. Antaria said the team of doctors handling the surgery was led by Samsul and Reininda. - JP
