Flooding has expanded to more regencies in Lampung, inundating houses and thousands hectares of farm field and spoiling more ready-to-harvest rice crops.
Floods that have hit Tanggamus, Central Lampung, East Lampung, South Lampung and Pringsewu regencies, have now expanded to Pesawaran, Tulangbawang, West Tulangbawang and Mesuji regencies.
News portal tempointeraktif.com reported that in Tanggamus, flood water from the overflowing Way Semaka and Way Haru rivers has inundated areas in the regency up to two meters deep, with no signs of receding.
In Pesawaran, flash flood that hit on Thursday has destroyed 19 houses, tens of others severely damaged, and killing one person and injuring tens more.
Floods have inundated at least 13,000 hectares of rice fields in Lampung, spoiling at least 2,900 ready to harvest crops, a local official said Thursday.
