JAKARTA: The city's Public Order Agency will launch more frequent raids on illegal street vendors ahead of the Adipura cleanliness award, an official said.
Head of the Jakarta Public Order agency Harianto Badjoeri said on Wednesday that areas that became the priority of raids were under toll roads and busy streets.
"We will focus on vendors under the Kampung Melayu toll road. Tanah Abang is also our priority".
The street vendors who would be regulated, Badjoeri said, included antique sellers in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. Adipura, the annual cleanliness award, is presented to cities in Indonesia in various categories every June. - JP
