ILACAP: A regent in Central Java has been found guilty of graft and sentenced to nine-years imprisonment and a Rp 200 million fine.
Probo Yulastoro, who headed the Cilacap regency, was also ordered to return Rp 20 billion in cash that he had embezzled from the regional budget during a court session on Wednesday afternoon.
Judge Solahudin said the defendant had embezzled the stage budget from 2004 to 2008.
Lawyer Bambang Sri Wahono said his team would appeal the verdict, saying his client had fallen victim to a disorganized administrative system.
He said his client should not be held responsible for the budget.
"Those responsible are officials in their respective offices."
