President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono met business representatives of Vietnam at the State Palace Monday to strengthen ties between the two countries.
Vietnam was represented by Nguyen Phu Trong, chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, and Vietnam Ambassador to Indonesia Nguyen Huu Dzung, along with 70 business delegates.
Presidential spokesman Dino Patti Djalal told reporters the two countries would increase cooperation in direct investment, energy security, tourism, fisheries and maritime.
"We expect to increase trade between Indonesia and Vietnam from currently US$2.2 billion," he said.
