The Democratic Party at the House of Representatives says that it will maintain its stance in defending the Bank Century bailout policy.

"Our stance is clear. So far the Democratic Party, together with the National Awakening Party [PKB], the National Mandate Party [PAN], the United Development Party [PPP] and, I hope, the Greater Indonesian Movement Party [Gerindra], will work together in harmony for the future," Democratic Party legislator Yahya Secawiria told reporters at the House in Jakarta on Tuesday.

"We are also hoping the Golkar Party will join us," he added.

However, Golkar chairman, Setya Novanto, said it was impossible for his party to revert from its opposing stance toward the bailout.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, chief patron of the Democratic Party, said Monday he was responsible for the decision made by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati to bail out Bank Century, now being investigated by the House.

Yudhoyono said to measure whether a decision was correct or not was not black and white, but that the decision should be judged based on economic development after the bailout.
