I do agree with the Bank Century inquiry committee parties that Vice President Boediono and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani should face legal proceedings over the bailout.
But if the legal proceedings decide that both Boediono and Sri Mulyani are not guilty, the legislators from those parties have to leave the House before facing due legal proceedings later.

The decision to bail out Bank Century for which Sri Mulyani and Boediono accept full responsibility was necessary to prevent a crisis in our financial and banking system.
Nobody now can prove that our current economic situation would have fared better, if the decision had not been taken. I am sure of the integrity of both decision makers and no motives existed to enrich themselves or others.
The inquiry by the Bank Century inquiry committee is a political process, and the coverage by TV channels forms a useful forum for representatives to show off and to overact. It is therefore in our national interest that both officials continue their duties in their current positions.

In fact, players are not spectators. In this case, Boediono and Sri Mulyani are players who are trying to reach the goal of economic development for our country, while party representatives in the Bank Century inquiry committee are something like spectators who easily blame the players because they do not feel how difficult it is for the players and goalkeepers to play the game.
Actually, each party already tasted both the sweetness and the bitterness of being players in the past. I hope they are now wiser.

Representatives of the political parties who accuse Boediono and Sri Mulyani of doing something wrong in the Bank Century bailout are just trying to manipulate their own bad image.

They will keep on blaming the Vice President and the finance minister, but nothing will happen, as we know that it is only a political maneuver and will be acted upon as a political maneuver.

This never-ending drama is being used by the politicians in the House to justify their huge monthly income. Regardless of mentioning names, the House does not have judicial power. It will not impact the judicial bodies that are supposed to work independently.
The longer the inquiry team works on this issue, the greater the effort needed to catch up with the halted development agenda.
The good thing is the market is already aware of this game since the beginning, so that there has been no reaction so far.

Countless Indonesians have followed the proceedings of the Bank Century inquiry committee painstakingly and thoughtfully. And, strangely enough, among us Indonesians there are still many who, despite all the disheartening evidence to the contrary, still desperately hang on to the belief that somehow, somewhere, some of our Indonesian leaders still possess high moral values such as integrity, honesty, chivalry, and the courage to say and do what is right.
Why don’t the parties who seek to condemn Vice President Boediono and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani exercise wisdom, righteousness, as well as bravery and seek to interrogate the President too about the Bank Century case — instead of spinelessly seeking their own political security, which they obviously regard as being more important? What they do is nauseating to the extreme, and doesn’t benefit the people of Indonesia and our country at all. I completely agree with what Adnan Buyung Nasution said.
Under Indonesia’s presidential system, Vice President Boediono and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani are the assistants of the President — hence he should and must have known what was going on with Bank Century, back in 2008.
If, in the coming days, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono allows these two assistants to be thrown to the wolves, then I, together with countless fellow Indonesians who twice voted for him, will again
be tremendously disappointed with his actions.
This will be the greatest disappointment of all — as we will feel truly betrayed. As we all know, betrayal of trust that we have once given really hurts to the core. And hurt may lead to anger. And those who have sown the wind will reap the storm. May we Indonesians be safeguarded from the effects of that storm. Haven’t the Indonesian people suffered enough?
