The Democratic Party claims that it has gained the support of the United Development Party for Wednesday's voting on the Bank Century case in a House of Representatives plenary meeting.
"Yes, that is true. In fact, we have shared the same views with the PPP on the case from the beginning," Democratic Party legislator Achsanul Qosasih said when asked by reporters about the rumor that the PPP would vote with his party at the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday.
"The only difference we once had was on whether names should be mentioned or not," he added.
On Tuesday, PPP deputy secretary-general Muhammad Romahurmuziy had told The Jakarta Post that his party considered the alternatives offered in today's voting were kind of similar and therefore, his party found no harm in shifting from one to the other.
As of now two bloc has emerged within the House on the Bank Century case, which is about a bailout that increased tenfold from its original estimate to Rp 6.76 trillion (US$716 million).
One bloc, led by the Democratic Party says that the bailout policy was not flawed, but there were problems within the bank's management, while the other bloc deems the policy was flawed from the beginning.
