The Golkar Party says it is standing firm that the controversial Bank Century bailout was unwarranted ahead of the House of Representatives plenary meeting on Wednesday.
Golkar Party secretary Ade Komarudin told The Jakarta Post that his party could not be moved from its stance of deeming the bailout flawed due to the clear evidence the party had found throughout the investigation process.
"You can compromise with politics, but you will never be able to compromise with the truth," he said.
As of now two bloc have emerged within the House on the Bank Century case, which is about a bailout that ballooned to 10 times its original estimate to Rp 6.76 trillion (US$716 million).
One bloc, led by the Democratic Party, says that the bailout policy was not flawed, but that there were problems within the bank's management, while the other bloc considers the policy was flawed from the beginning.
