Police question witnesses on collapse

TANGERANG: The police have summoned the owner of Situ Gintung restaurant and the management of Makro grocery store following the collapse of three billboards that killed an elderly woman and injured 25 people in Ciputat, South Tangerang, on Sunday.

Ciputat Police chief Insp. Ngisa Asngari said Tuesday the police had questioned 20 people including the restaurant owner and Makro management staff members as witnesses.

"As of today, we have questioned 20 people but we have not named suspects in the incident yet," he said. He added the owner of Situ Gintung restaurant said it would pay compensation to the 25 visitors who were injured by the fallen billboards.

Caused by adverse weather, billboards and roof tiles hit visitors at the restaurant Sunday. Customer Yulianus Pattimuri died. - JP
