Mild quakes hit North Sulawesi, Banten

Moderate quakes jolted North Sulawesi and Banten in the early hours of Thursday morning but there were no reports of casualties or damage.
A 5.2-magnitude quake hit North Sulawesi at 5:54 a.m. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency reported that the epicenter was locater 45 kilometers southeast of the Talaud Islands regency capital of Melonguane at 13 kilometers beneath the surface.
Earlier on Thursday, a 5.3-magnitude quake hit Ujung Kulon, Banten at 2:34 a.m. The earthquake struck 121 kilometers southwest of the westernmost tip of Java Island, or 285 kilometers southwest of Jakarta, at 30 kilometers beneath the sea surface.
On Wednesday, two mild earthquakes jolted Melonguane. The first earthquake, of magnitude 5.2, occurred at 6:18 a.m. and the second quake, of magnitude 5.0, at 7:41 a.m.
