Officials at Lebak Bulus bus terminal in South Jakarta say they will punish anyone caught smoking in the terminals no-smoking zones with a mandatory 10 push ups starting Friday.
To respect people’s right to smoke, however, the terminal operator will provide a smoking room, an official said Thursday.
“The punitive measure will take effect on Friday,” bus terminal head Ferdinand Karel Wowor was quoted as saying by news portal tempointeraktif.com.
Lebak Bulus bus terminal is the second public space in the capital to declare itself smoke-free after Blok M bus station in South Jakarta. The initiative is an effort to enforce of the 2005 gubernatorial decree on banning smoking in public areas.
