Text your say: RI-US military cooperation

I

br>I fully support the US plans to fully resume its military activities and especially counterterrorism cooperation with Indonesia.
To overcome terrorism, the
world has to work together because terrorism itself is an international organization.
Terrorism for sure is not only
a crime but goes against human rights as well. So let’s fight it. May God bless those who are against
terrorism.

I am happy if the US fully resumes its military cooperation with Indonesia. But I will be happier when the US will do it through our PTDI/PINDAD/PAL (aircraft, weaponry, and shipbuilding industries) leading to prosperity here through the air/land/sea, reducing terrorism.
With SBY at the helm, this cooperation will be in good hands. Let us not miss this chance.

Basically anything that is needed to make our country better should be done. Futhermore, to cooperate in military and counterterrorism activities is very important to boost our national security and stability, so we can improve our technology and prosperity.

What must we Indonesians give them in return? They just want to sell their expired munitions and obsolete weapons. We do not need them.
Buy from Russia.

Resuming US-RI military cooperation will only make the TNI a bit more arrogant and let them believe that the United States does not care about their disastrous human rights record.
It’s not good for peace in West Papua and Maluku; it’s not good for human rights throughout Indonesia. I think it’s not good at all for the Republic of Indonesia.

Military cooperation between
the United States and Indonesia should be based on mutual and common interests.
First of all, the United States should lift all embargos on military equipment and spare parts to enable Indonesia to reactivate its weaponry produced in the United States.
Indonesia should be allowed to freely obtain military equipment from any other country.
Only with such independence, would military cooperation benefit both parties.

I agree with Indonesia and the United States strengthening their military cooperation.
But I do not agree if, in return, there will be a US military base in Indonesian territory. We may need to study how human rights are implemented in our military.

Such military and counterterrorism cooperation is very important for the sake of our national security and stability.
It will enhance our capability in technology and thus prosperity.
