Medical workers evacuated on Saturday five bodies following days of firefight between police troops and alleged terrorist group hiding in Kemukiman Lamkabeu village in the Aceh regency of Aceh Besar.
Antara reported three ambulances took the bodies to Bhayangkara Police Hospital in the provincial capital of Banda Aceh for an autopsy.
Three of fatalities are identified as police officers Second Brig. Darmansyah, Second Brig. Hendrik Kusumo and First Brig. Boas Waosiri. The other two bodies have remained unidentified, but police said they were members of the armed terrorist group.
The three officers and two suspected terrorists were killed in a skirmish on Thursday. A group of Mobile Brigade police personnel attempted to evacuate the bodies but to no avail as the armed group opened fire at them, injuring nine of them.
A total of 11 police officers were wounded in the crackdown on the suspected terrorists over the past week, which also left two civilians killed.
