An indictment on a graft case with defendant Dudhie Makmun Murod revealed Monday that 18 of his fellow Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politicians also received bribes.
Prosecutors from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said during Dudhie's first trial at the Corruption Court that the briberies, totaling Rp 9.8 billion (US$1.1 million), were linked with the election of the Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor.
The briberies were delivered in Rp 50 million traveler cheques sealed in a brown envelope.
such as Panda Nababan, Izedrik Emir Moeis and Agus Condro Prayitno.
In 2004, House of Representatives' Commission IX elected Miranda Swaray Gultom as Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor.
The envelope was handed over to Dudhie at Bebek Bali restaurant near the House of Representatives by Arie Malangjudo.
The indictment revealed that Arie was a middle-man of Nunun Nurbaeti, the wife of former National Police deputy chief Comr. Gen. (ret) Adang Daradjatun.
KPK spokesman Johan Budi responded to the indictment, saying the names claimed to be involved in the briberies would be possibly named suspects "as long as evidence as testimonies were sufficient."
