In the weeks leading up to Plaza Indonesia's 20th anniversary, the shopping center has prepared an array of celebrations including the setting up of an Art Festival featuring 21 installation works from emerging sculptors and artists.

The Plaza Indonesia Art Festival was inaugurated by Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu on March 2. Organized and curated by Harper's Bazaar Indonesia, the 21 pieces carry on the theme "Twenty Years of Plaza Indonesia" and will be on display throughout the shopping center till the end of the month.

The arts exhibition serves as part of Plaza Indonesia's ongoing commitment to supporting creative economy and local products and businesses. Eye-catching installations, including a huge "made-in-China" banana and Barack Obama riding a rickshaw, make a number of interesting check points for visitors and shoppers strolling through the mall.

According to Boyke Gozali, vice president director of PT Plaza Indonesia Realty Tbk, Plaza Indonesia enjoyed a 30 percent surge in visitors in February as compared to the same period last year.

Mari Elka, who was accompanied by Boyke after opening the Plaza Indonesia Art Festival at Caf* La Moda on the mall's ground floor, said: "Shopping centers command great potential as platforms for exhibiting our home-grown quality products, not only those related to fashion but also to arts and the creative industry in general."

Other items in Plaza Indonesia's 20th anniversary agenda include shopping incentives, lucky draws and anniversary sale and F&B programs. A charity gala dinner and dance dubbed "The Red Ball" will be organized on March 19 to raise funds for both the Indonesia Heart Foundation and the Indonesia AIDS Foundation.

"We sincerely thank all our shoppers, tenants and partners for their loyal support over the past two decades, and hope that this important milestone will be a basis for greater things to come," said Plaza Indonesia marketing director Mia Egron.
