PWI to open journalism schools

The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) in cooperation with the National Education Ministry, UNESCO and local administrations will open five new journalism schools across the country this year.
Besides Jakarta, the schools will be located in Semarang, Makasar, Riau, and Samarinda.
Head of PWI, Margiono, said on Tuesday that the schools will provide basic, intermediate and advanced training for journalists.
According to general secretary of PWI ,Hendry Ch. Bangun, PWI is now running the journalism school pilot project in Palembang, the capital city of South Sumatra.
The school just completed its first training round attended by full-time journalists with less than five years of work experience. (lnd)
